Diversity Initiative Program
Making strides to help bring fresh, diverse voices to Hollywood.
IN HONOR OF OUR DEPARTED FRIEND & COLLEAGUE

About the Screenwriting Diversity Initiative
The lack of diversity in Hollywood has been at the forefront of the national conversation for awhile now, as evidenced by phenomenons such as the #OscarsSoWhite movement and the huge splash made by "Moonlight" at the 2017 Academy Awards. At Roadmap, we want to do our part to help bring more diversity to the big screen (and the small!), and for us, that starts with the screenwriters.
That's why we are proud to announce the Roadmap Writers Diversity Tribute!
We launched this initiative in memory of Roadmap Writer Coletta Preacely-Garcia, who passed suddenly in 2016. Coletta was an extremely hardworking writer who was always working to better her craft, tirelessly writing, rewriting, and taking advantage of every opportunity presented to her to gain skills, make connections and improve her screenplays.
Each month, we will be selecting one diverse writer to participate in the Screenwriting Intensive Program for FREE.
To apply for this tribute, please submit a one-page statement in PDF format highlighting your diverse background and why you would be a valuable and hardworking member of the Screenwriting Intensive Program.
The deadline for entries is on the 21st of each month. Please email your submission in PDF formatto dorian@roadmapwriters.com with "Coletta Preacely-Garcia Diversity Initiative Program" in the subject line.
Please feel free to forward this announcement to diverse writers you know who may benefit from a program like this.
Always In Your Corner,
The Roadmap Team

JUNE RECIPIENT
Harker Jones
I’ve always been a lover of words, story, and film so I started writing when I was 13 and got a double major in telecommunications and film and written communication, and a minor in literature (not all when I was 13). I was managing editor of Out magazine for seven years, a film critic and features writer for Moving Pictures magazine, and then moved to Disney publishing.
I love horror movies, pop music, cats, carbs, and autumn, and my nickname is Juice. I’ve been in Los Angeles for 15 years, I volunteer for Project Angel Food, and I live with my partner and our devilish cat, Holly (photo of whom is available upon request).
I’ve written six screenplays, two novels, and a children’s book about a bird who’s afraid to fly. My satire Green Means Go! was a semi-finalist in the Circus Road Screenplay Contest; my thriller Never Have I Ever was a quarter-finalist in the NexTV Writing & Pitch competition; and my short script Colette & Camille won the inaugural Get It Made Short-Form Screenplay contest and is currently in production.
