Weekend Box Office Roundup
Weekend Box Office Top Ten:
RAMPAGE opened at #1 with a solid $34.5M (Million) domestic debut, and a much bigger $148.6M globally. Key territories are yet to debut, which promises a very healthy international total for this film, in line with other Dwayne Johnson hits. Produced for a very reasonable $120M plus marketing, this should have no problem becoming profitable for WB/New Line.
A QUIET PLACE is #2 with an amazing $32.6M second weekend, dropping just -35.1% to bring the domestic total to a big $99.6M, and global to $151.3M. Produced for only $17M plus marketing, this is already wildly profitable for Paramount, with much more to be earned.
TRUTH OR DARE opened #3 with a $19M debut, performing above where tracking suggested, and giving Blumhouse yet another hit. With a budget of $3.5M plus marketing costs, this will easily be profitable for Universal, and should also have a strong international total, as the Blumhouse horror brand carries global appeal.
READY PLAYER ONE is #4 with $11.2M, a domestic total of $114.6M, and $474.8M worldwide. This week will see the film cross the $500M mark globally. Produced for $175M plus marketing, this film will be profitable for WB theatrically by the end of next weekend.
BLOCKERS is #5 with $10.2M, a domestic total of $36.9M, and an early worldwide total of $52.9M. Produced for $21M plus marketing costs, this will definitely be another profitable R-rated comedy, and success for Universal.
BLACK PANTHER held at #6 with $5.3M, a domestic total of $673.7M, and $1.313 Billion worldwide. It is now set, astoundingly, that this will still be in the top ten when AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR debuts in a couple of weeks.
ISLE OF DOGS is #7 with $5M, a domestic total of $18.4M, and $27.1M globally, a decent showing for this specialty film.
I CAN ONLY IMAGINE slipped to #8 with $3.8M, and a total of $74.9M, an impressive number for this faith-based hit, which has become hugely profitable off a budget of only $7M plus a modest marketing campaign.
TYLER PERRY'S ACRIMONY is #9 with $3.7M, and a very solid total of $37.8M so far for Lionsgate, in line with Perry's other films as his audience consistently shows up for the Perry brand, whether it is comedy or dramatic.
CHAPPAQUIDDICK is #10 with $3M, and a total so far of $11M for Entertainment Studios.
Next weekend sees the debut of I FEEL PRETTY from STX as the only major release, as AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR opens two weekends from now, and has been given a wide berth from other studios, as it is set to dominate the charts with massive global numbers.
