Weekend Box Office Top 10:

COCO held onto the #1 spot for the second weekend in a row, scoring $26.1M (Million) and bringing the domestic total to $108M and global to nearly $280M for this Disney/Pixar hit. There is still much more to be earned both in the states and internationally, where roll-out continues over the coming weeks. JUSTICE LEAGUE is #2 with $16.5M, a domestic total of $197.3M, and worldwide total of $567.4M. The WB superhero film is heading towards a total of around $700M global give or take, a "so-so" result which basically puts the film at break-even. It's not quite the result anyone would have hoped for, but neither is it a disaster or financial loss. WONDER stayed #3 with $12.5M, to bring the film's total to $88M so far for Lionsgate, heading toward the $100M domestic mark in the coming week or two. Holds have been very solid for this family film which had a budget in the $20-25M range, meaning it is already profitable with more to be earned. Early international is $12M, for a $100M global total as of this weekend. THOR: RAGNAROK is #4 with $9.6M, a domestic total now of $291.4M, and a huge global haul of $816M. Produced for $180M plus marketing costs, Disney and Marvel have another big, wildly profitable hit on their hands, especially impressive for the studio which had to juggle a superhero film, Pixar animated film, and THE LAST JEDI all in the same holiday corridor. DADDY'S HOME 2 slid to #5 with $7.5M, bringing the domestic total to $82.8M, and the very early worldwide total to $116.8M. Produced for $69M plus marketing costs, there is every reason to believe the film will be profitable thanks to the holds in the U.S. and the first film's popularity overseas. MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS is #6 with $6.7M, a domestic total now of $84.7M, and a worldwide haul of $210.9M. With a budget of $55M plus marketing costs, the film is already profitable for Fox, which has already announced the development of a sequel based on DEATH ON THE NILE. LADY BIRD is #7 with $4.5M after expanding into 1,194 theaters, to bring the film's total so far to a very solid $17M. With more expansions on the way and awards prospects bright, this one may be sticking around for awhile for A24. THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI is #8 with $4.5M, for a total now of $13.6M. Playing in just 1,430 theaters, this Fox Searchlight release looks like it has much more to bring in through December. THE STAR is #9 with $4M, for a total now of $27.2M. The budget was just $20M on this Sony faith-based animated film, plus a very modest marketing campaign. The film should reach profitable thanks to its holds and even a halfway decent international run, where the film has yet to be released. A BAD MOMS CHRISTMAS is #10 with $3.4M, bringing the domestic total to $64.8M and worldwide to $97.8M. Though much less than the original, the film carried a budget of only $28M plus marketing costs, meaning it is already profitable for STX and giving them a solid result on this R-rated comedy. Next weekend will again be ruled by holdovers and expanding specialty titles like THE DISASTER ARTIST, before THE LAST JEDI debuts in two weekends looking at Death Star-sized box office results.
