Leave Your Ego at the Door: Mark's Resource Roundup

I think we can all agree that there is a necessary narcissism to being a writer. We have to believe we have something to offer, something to say. However, when we let our ego get the best of us we tend to brag about our contest placements, we get too familiar with an industry executive, we overshare, in short, we cross the Rubicon of professional behavior.
The unfiltered outpouring of our egos will only lead to rejection and maybe even blacklisting (not the good kind). We fall deeper into bitterness and self-doubt.
When sitting down to write and/or take a meeting, do yourself a favor and leave your ego at the door. You will then be:
Less easily discouraged by negative feedback
More eager to revise your work
More likely to garner the respect of your peers
Remember: don’t fall in love with your writing, fall in love with the process.
Keep writing,
Mark
